Cave of Saint Ignatius in Manresa

Ignatius of Loyola fell walked from Montserrat to Manresa in 1522. Here he spent eleven months, a time of great importance to his life and to waht later would be the Society of Jesus. His favorite place of prayer was the cavern or cave around which  the present House of Spiritual Exercises stands. His experience lived here led St. Ignatius  to write the  “Book of Spiritual Exercises.”

Saint Ignatius and his stay in Manresa,  his experience and the prominence it had in the biography of the saint and the history of the Society of Jesus has made Manresa and the Cave of Saint Ignatius a place of interest for many visitors.
